Todd’s new album “State” arrived in the mail today. In lieu of a review, which would be totally biased and inappropriate and full of references to Frank Ocean (yes! Frank Ocean! I totally get it now), I want to revisit this picture and what an awesome moment that was and how much fun it’s been being a Todd fan for the past three years.
Embrace your inner fan girl today! Look how cute she makes you smile!

Everyone’s claiming Rihanna and Azealia Banks are ripping off something new, but I know they’re just paying tribute to this Todd Rundgren graphic masterpiece.

Case in point: Watch Azealia pop out of her clam shell at 1:26; Todd closes his own clam shell at 1:15. How I wish that were a euphemism.

(Thanks to Perpetua for the original entry into this wormhole.)

Todd Rundgren - Black Maria, Live Gramercy Theater, 12/7/10

Todd was playing in Cleveland this past weekend; obviously, I missed it. From the video I’ve seen, he covered Rebecca Black’s “Friday” and sang a song about Mitt Romney to the tune of “You’re So Vain.” So.

While I’m happy to accept Todd in all forms (and this particular show was called “Unpredictable Todd Rundgren” so it sounds like par for the course), I’m also pretty happy too just watching this video on repeat from his show at Gramercy two years ago, my favorite Todd show I’ve seen in my short career as A Todd Fan (and only the third Todd show I’d been to, the night after meeting the man himself).

If it helps imagine my ecstasy over how good this show was, that guitar solo (that guitar solo!!!) was played smack bang in front of me.

THIS is all I need.

(Baseball and Todd! You thought that by sending me off to a secluded house in a foreign country it would be that easy to get rid of me, didn’t you?)

I always get super disoriented when people in my normal Tumblr feed post about Todd Rundgren. (As opposed to the sacred, secret, and mildly shameful space that is Tracked Tags.)

Updated for Trivial Purposes: The backup singers in this video are Flo & Eddie, former members of The Turtles. Todd was producing The Psychedelic Furs album Forever Now around the same time as “Bang On A Drum” was recorded, and brought in Flo & Eddie to do the backing vocals on “Love My Way,” yup, those haunting backing vocals there at the end. More bang-related music trivia: Flo & Eddie also did the backing vocals on T.Rex’s “Get It On (Bang A Gong),” which is my preferred “Bang” song.

November 18, 2009. I wish I could go back and tell the chick in this picture how musically significant this entire night would be to her just two-and-a-half years later.

Just for Chris, who is probably the only person left in the world still reading my Tumblr at this point, this is Todd doing “Drive” and “Couldn’t I Just Tell You” at the Cleveland Ribs Fest a week ago. It’s a bit messy, but so are ribs.

(Tracie/Megan: be sure to let your folks know he’s supposed to be playing at the Agora in October…)

I think I may have found my new favorite Todd incarnation. Seriously. This video. I had no idea he used to be a member of Sunscreem.

(Unless you love hearing me talk about Todd Rundgren, you really, really don’t want to be anywhere near me right now. Sorry, J.)
