I think I’m going to start making techno again.
I’m inspired by the husky busker on the Bedford L platform who can almost sing and doesn’t care that three trains have passed and not one has stopped or that the platform is crowded—almost to corkscrew conditions—with people who are late for work and thus not in the mood for his cover of Paul Simon/Bryan Adams/Bob Dylan. It’d be easy to make fun of him—the oversized trenchcoat, the bad beard, the faux whispery sensuality—but that guy is going to make it—whatever it is—because it’s determination, not so much talent or skill that really pays off in this concrete jungle.
YES. People should DO things. I don’t know anyone who has become successful — TRULY successful — by sheer accident. And because (sorry, SORRY FOR ALL THE TODD LINKS) I can’t help it: show me some determination.
