The original version of “Alone” is tickling all the right AM Gold synapses for me. Especially that Badfinger guitar chord progression at the end there. 

Also learning via Wikipedia that Steinberg and Kelly wrote pretty much every pop ballad I’ve ever loved: “True Colors,” “So Emotional,” “Eternal Flame,” “I Drove All Night,” “I Touch Myself,” “Like A Virgin,” “I’ll Stand By You.”

Oh my god. Mind blown. 

(P.S. That guitar line at 2:06 - 2:20 was driving me nuts, and it took me a good few minutes and a few cries of “FOREIGNER? IS IT FOREIGNER?” to work out that it’s straight out of Boston’s “Peace Of Mind.” My head is one big sonic loop these days. I might have a tumor.)
