People commonly use the word “procrastination” to describe what they do on the Internet. It seems to me too mild to describe what’s happening as merely not-doing-work. We don’t call it procrastination when someone gets drunk instead of working.

The Acceleration of Addictiveness (via mikereview)

I spent the afternoon in the park reading a whole book. On my way back up to my apartment just now in the elevator, I remembered that when I first moved to New York, for the first year, I didn’t have a computer. “What on earth did I *DO* back then?” I teased myself.

As long as I can still spend long afternoons reading books in parks, as long as I still PREFER to do so, I’ll know that I’m okay.
